Sultões do Balanço

Essa é uma banda que todos conhecem, mas nem todos reconhecem. Quem não é fã de rock, com certeza tem guardada na cabeça uma ou duas músicas deles sem saber, mas os fãs do gênero têm muito mais que isso na ponta da língua. A banda é boa, tem técnica e é clássica. Chama Dire Straits e esse som é do primeiro álbum deles: "Dire Straits" de 1978. Segue a letra:

Como assim uma banda lança o primeiro álbum com um som desses? Pois é... Era a promessa de sucesso que o grupo delineava. Esse som é de um nível altíssimo: a levada da guitarra é excelente, uma bateria ótima, o vocal de Knopfler muito bom também, com sua voz rouca e séria, e o mais legal - se autoproclamavam os Sultões do Swing. Tem dúvida de que eles sejam? Ouça essa música e confirme, ou melhor ouça a versão ao vivo com quase 10 minutos que está no player aí embaixo. Veja se o solo é possível... Essa versão para nossa alegria toca na Kiss FM de vez em quando, mas a original é perfeita também. A letras é bastante interessante e, do jeito que eu gosto, conta uma história ou descreve um episódio. Nesse caso me parece alguém adentrando um festival musical num dia chuvoso onde há "bandas tocando Dixie várias vezes", "músicos competindo", um curioso "guitarrista chamado George que conhece todos os acordes" (pronto, lá vai um beatlemaníaco [eu] achar que é o George Harrison), além do outro personagem "Harry que toca muito bem e trabalha o dia inteiro, mas reserva as sextas-feiras pra tocar com os Sultões do Swing". Já no final, depois dos notáveis jovens baderneiros que não consideram aquilo um rock legítimo, há uma revelação: um homem no palco assume "We are the Sultans of Swing". Agora vê essa versão ao vivo e diz se esse solo é possível ;)
